The Riccarton Library opened in 1928 to provide a library facility for the people of the Borough of Riccarton. Since that time it has provided a service to the residents of central Riccarton as a community library that is administered and staffed by volunteers.

The library holds general and mystery fiction books, a wide range of non-fiction, New Zealand, travel and adventure, and biographies. There is also a Jigsaw Puzzle collection and Large Print titles.  

The library is situated in the Community Centre on the southern side of Robbies Restaurant.There is good parking available.

Membership costs $5.00 and is for lifetime. Rental is 70 cents per book for two weeks.

The Riccarton community library is open: Monday - Friday Noon to 3.00pm and Saturday 10.00am to Noon.
