Ilam School Parents Supported by CRRA |

The committee of the Central Riccarton Residents’ Association Inc unanimously backs the Ilam School parents’ action group’s opposition to the erection of a university student bar adjacent to the boundary with Ilam School. Our Association considers that the proposed placement of the bar is totally inappropriate because there is a very bad “culture” prevalent among a considerable number of University of Canterbury students with regard to the consumption of alcohol. The quality of life of residents in Riccarton has, in recent years, been adversely affected by the anti-social behaviour of students returning to their accommodation in Riccarton after drinking at the students’ association bar in the university grounds.
